Max

Since so many of you loved the Grinch, I thought you might like to make his dog, Max.  I threw this together quickly - I didn't even get out a sponge or ink (horrors!) - so fancy it up to your heart's content....

Small oval and 1 inch circle for head
Large oval body
1/2 circle cut in half for paws
word window cut in half lengthwise for legs
Small oval ear - trimmed - and the piece trimmed off became the tail
Punched a 1 inch circle then punched a wide oval around the hole - then trimmed in the curved 'point' with scissors for antlers - tied with linen thread
heart to heart for eye white
standard hole punch for eyes and nose

Don't get excited about putting Max WITH the Grinch - they are not "to scale".  This dog is a bit too large for the Grinch that I showed earlier this month.

  3. Hi Ellen
I love your punch ideas and wonder if you could give me a hand with one I am trying hard to do...
I breed Lhasa Apsos and have been trying to punch a puppy card, to give to the new puppy owners - just can't seem to get it right... There are tons of pictures on my blog http://podgypawslhasaapsopuppies.blogspot.com/ that will give you inspiration, if you are so inclined to help me out here - they are just the sweetest little pups...
    Thank you in advance!

Busy of course with the holidays but I will see what I can do for you next time I sit down to play.

  5. Just love your creativity with our SU punches, and I'll freely admit, I'M STEALING YOUR IDEAS!

Way too cute... Used a couple to make gift tags for my grand-nieces' gifts this year...

Have you ever thought about publishing a "how to" book with all your ideas? I think it would be awesome for people who are creative but haven't discovered (as you have) the power of punches!

  7. I was just reading the comments and I agree! You should publish a book! You could even sell it to SU to sell in their catalog. The problem would be keeping current! But then, maybe they wouldn't d/c such great punches (I'm thinking the key tag and the 1/4" round right now!!).

  9. Oh Ellen, glad to hear Grinch has a dog! He's precious! I agree with Donna; I'd love to see one that looks like my sister's chihuahua's - if you can try that. Also, I'll send you a picture of my Foxy Lady - would love that one too, so I can scrapbook a picture of her (she passed in 1998).

We have a bunch of SNOW Friday and Saturday - calling for freezing rain on Christmas Eve. Would be nice to have a white christmas though - I can still remember the last white christmas we had. It was a beautiful scene.

  10. This is too cute. Roscoe really liked it too. OK, all those in favor of Ellen making a book with punched beauties raise their hand. Just like I thought, everyone wants you to do it. Happy Holidays everyone.

    Hugs and chooclate kisses,
    Carey

  11. MAX is perfect... I haven't surfed blogland in a while.. been knitting up a storm.. so was looking at pics first and then reading... Glad I haven't lost my 5-year-old heart and that my brain properly interpreted the punchie character as Max from the Dr. Seuss tale. Hugs, L
