Blossom Petal Builder Werewolf
I know this is a little weird for a July post...
but it is what sprung from more blossom petal builder playtime - I'm betting NO ONE else has made a werewolf with this punch (possibly from ANY punch).

E is for Elephant
I am almost "giddy" when I can create a character using just ONE punch. Man of Mystery from the Owl Punch was one of my most genius moments.
For today you get an elephant made entirely from the small tag punch (easily made from large tag punch too)
Here is the how to:
punch just a bit of the tag on the edge of your paper
Punch one tag over the "hole" and 3 additional tags
Trim 2 of the tags diagonally from the bottom corners to form the ears
Reinsert the remaining tag into the punch (twice) to remove the sections shown below (you can put your punch piece on a post it note to give you more to hold as you reinsert the punch piece)
sponge - draw on your eyes and nose "wrinkles" and you have an elephant

Pennant Hive
Yesterday, we had petals from the NEW pennant punch - today the same punch in the same color becomes a bee hive
Just trimmed the bottom the tiniest bit with scissors
Rounded the top (stuck it in the hole of the 1/2 inch circle, I think)
Draw on a few lines, sponge some ink , add a heart door
Bee is 1/2 smallest heart to heart with vellum heart wings (from owl punch)

More Blossom Petal Builder Punch
Maybe if I write the name of this punch a few more times, I'll actually remember it. As of now, I'm still having to look it up. Blossom Petal Builder is the one that looks like a feather duster to me - Haven't used it too much so I tried another project and I think you might like this..
Ok, maybe you'll like it better next Easter instead of now but I haven't been turning out too many punch ideas so you best just take what I can give and don't be picky about seasonal timing.
Body - large feather duster petal from Blosoom Petal Builder
WIngs - large feather duster again (cut int half)
Beak - narrow heart to heart, trim bumps end off
Feet - I cut the little flower from itty bitty punch pack - but I should have just used the owl feet
Hat - medium oval
Hat brim - combo of ornament and large oval
Flower - itty bitty punch pack, standard hole punch center

Blossom Petal Builder Punch Pooch
Did I really NEED to punch yet another dog? No, but let's just be glad I punched something...
And he did turn out kinda cute...
Head and Body - Feather Duster looking part of the Blossom Petal Builder (BPB), for head insert small end into 1/2 inch circle to shorten and round for his forehead.
Muzzle - large leaf BPB - trimmed on one end to "match"
Ears - small leaf BPB
Paws - small blossom BPB, trimmed flat on one side
Tail - large oval next to hole of same
Nose - 1/2 inch circle on edge of paper
Tongue - any small circle next to hole of same - trim end to round
Collar - 3/4 circle around 1/2 circle hole
Heart tag - small heart to heart (old tiny punch from SU - might match eyes on the owl punch???)
Ring on color - circle from itty bitty punch pieces around standard hole punch hole
Eyes - small heart in white, standard hole punch in black
This was inspired by a stamp in a 2001 catalog that I am not allowed to name due to SU Cult Rules -Why are they paranoid about admitting other companies have nice product? (I can't answer because I don't understand the cult mentality)
The real question is why do I still have ANY company's 2001 catalog?.... might be time to do some more purging around here...

Hornets
Saw a plea for a hornet over on SCS so I jumped into action with this:
Body and wings - large ovals
head - small oval
eyes - small heart cut in half
Legs and antennae - wide heart to heart next to hole of the same (antennae need to be trimmed)
Stripes were just drawn in - lay an oval down, trace the edge, move & repeat - color between them
What she really wanted was a "brown hornet" and when I googled that I saw the old cartoon The Brown Hornet from the Fat Albert show - Hadn't thought of this Super Hero in decades! But he screamed PUNCH ME, so I did:
I didn't "fine tune" him since I have no use for him - but maybe one of you will need him - or he will trigger another idea for someone.
His face is medium oval and 2 small ovals
Hair - small oval
Neck - word window
Kerchief - wide oval, small heart next to same hole
His shirt is the butterfly punch trimmed
Muscles and Sleeves are the medium oval
Gloves are narrow heart to heart and 1/2 inch circle at the ends of the modern label
Narrow waist is the Blossom Petal Punch
Shorts - 5 petal flower trimmed
Shoes - wide heart to heart
Legs - wide heart to heart next to same hole
Body and wings - large ovals
head - small oval
eyes - small heart cut in half
Legs and antennae - wide heart to heart next to hole of the same (antennae need to be trimmed)

Hello Kitty - a "borrowed" punch art idea
When you lose your stampin' mojo, casing someone else's work is a great way to get back in business. Well, that works for punching too.
This is NOT an original - I got it from Quiltmaniac46 on SCS right here and click HERE for her instructions.
I made a couple of adjustments but this is basically her Hello Kitty:
Here is what I used:
Dress - scallop circle - trimmed like hers
Head - wide oval - just like hers
Ears - narrow heart to heart
Shirt - small oval
Sleeves - medium oval cut in half to get 2
All paws - 1/2 inch circle
Face - drawn on - just like hers
Bow center - itty bitty pack circle
Bow loops - 1/2 inch circle - trimmed

Heard you were under the weather...
It is a Splish Splash Flash Back...
I don't do a lot of challenges. This is primarily because I'm usually a week behind on my blog reading and the due dates are past. But I have turned over a new leaf and hope to do someones challenge each week.
This week I bought into the Color Combos Galore Inspiration 187. I've been following this site for YEARS with good intentions yet this is my first time to play. They "requested" more cards so that is what I did. A get well card - "Heard you were under the weather" is the inside sentiment - yep, it's my usual corny stuff! And since they required WET - I glazed up the umbrella, drops, and puddles.
Changed the duck a little from the Splish Splash version:
Same butterfly punch feet and bill
1.25 inch circle for the body
Owl punch with ears and feet cut off for the head
And since it was already laying there on my desk - I cut the owl breast in half for wings (weird end is behind his body)
Eyes are the circles from the owl punch in white and black
Umbrella is the 1.75 circle punched near a scallop oval hole - this is the way to get the "scallops" inverted on the umbrella.
Umbrella handle is the word window around the slot hole - trimmed. Like this:

Running Dog
Running Dog - sounds like the name a young boy would pick for his Indian Guide name...Do they still have Indian Guides?
Well, in reality, it is the description of this:
A lot more complex than yesterday's puppy.
Here's the 411:
Body - 1.75 inch circle, curved line drawn for leg
Scruff - small oval (don't ouline ALL the say with black - leave it open and it will look more like part of the body)
Collar - medium oval, repunched with small circle itty bitty punch pack, details drawn on
Neck - word window
Head - large oval
Eyes - word window cut in half to get 2 - standard hole punch in black - add gel pen highlights
Ears and Tail - Wing from 2 step bird
Muzzle - large oval repunched to shorten with 1.75 inch circle
Nose -wide oval medium oval (wide one would have looked ridiculous!)
Mouth - 3/4 inch oval
Tongue - narrow heart to heart - cut in half
Back Paws (that are in front) medium oval
Toes - standard hole punch
Front paws (that are underneath him) 3/4 inch circle
I added a wide oval behind the body - basically to give something to put the far right paw on.
Center paw and head are adhered on a dimensional

Simple Puppy
I was cleaning out a pile of OLD stamping/scrapbooking magazines I found on a shelf that I had forgotten about. Out of sight, out of mind, ya know?
But I MUST thumb through them before they go to recycle and I spotted an add for a PUNCH - actually 2 punches - a puppy head and a puppy body. Well.... you know what happened next...
Head - Owl punch with ears and feet cut off
Ears - Petal from Blossom Petal/Feather duster
All the circles for his eyes, nose, face ring - Owl Punch
Body - 1.75 inch circle, cut flat on bottom and right side, repunched in a bit at the bottom with circle from itty bitty punch pack, drew line for "front legs"
Drew on a few spots with black marker
Attached his head with a dimensional.

Another Ground Hog?
Really, I don't have a "thing" for ground hogs. And I don't need one. And I'll probably never use him. Just like I've never used the first one.
But he was so cute that I had to punch him when I saw him.
His face is from the Owl Punch - I bet you recognized that right away.
His teeth and eye are a little different so let me show you what I did.
Not too hard, huh? just a few snip snip snips with your scissors!
And the tulips were the small heart snipped in half and layered - EASY!
Maybe he could go on a layout about shadows... your kid shadowing your every step, discovering their shadow...
OR
Maybe you can use him as a BEAVER if that is your team mascot.
Just add a tail.
A tail and a river.

Fat Frog
After making the fat cat, I sat and thought "what other animal could have BIG FAT hind legs?"
I'm not a rocket scientist but even I could come up with this:
See the similarity?
Same hind legs
Same Chest
Same head (kinda)
For the frog:
Snipped in a circle on the full heart (on the cat it was cut flat)
I flattened the head oval a little (very little)
cheeks - circle itty bitty punch pack
eyes - word window and circles
drew on mouth
Legs - wide heart to heart next to hole of same
Feet are the cool thing I learned on this one!
Punch a scallop oval and toss it - keep the hole
Trim from the hole to make a triangle or pie shape - thin (front) feet and wider (back feet) for that nice WEBBED look. Simple yet effective!
Also, I attached his chest with a dimensional so he would have more depth and would POP (hop) off the page.

Fat Cat
Ever have those chores you HATE to do? For awhile mine was vacuuming - I'd put it off until it HAD to be done.
After that it was grocery shopping - I'd beg my kid to go with me so I didn't have to do it alone - I dreaded grocery shopping.
Mopping has had it's turn as the dreaded chore, as had bill paying (thank goodness that didn't last too long)
Right now - it is taking photos of punch art.
You've probably noticed I've just been throwing them down on notebook paper or scrap paper and snapping a photo.... same thing today... wonder how long this one will be the "hated" task?
Hind Legs - Full Heart - trimmed off at point end
Chest - medium oval
Head - medium oval
Ears - small heart to heart
Paws - circle itty bitty punch pack
front legs - modern label but I had to slim it some
Tail - large oval around a hole
Bow - 1/2 inch circle and small heart to heart (2)
What I figured out on this kitty was the EYES
I wanted a curve and point
I saw the HOLE left by the 5 punch flower in my punch droppings
Grabbed my smallest circle and snipped the "inner points" on that hole
Sounds weird - just punch a flower and you'll see what I mean.
To get them identical - punch two - layer your "holes" (now that does sound weird) and punch them at the same time.
Oh yeah - I'm sure there is a simpler way to do this - I'm just telling you what I did.
Tune in next time to see another beast built almost the same way.

Wiry White Hare
I've done Bugs Bunny and I've done Rabbit from the Hundred Acre Wood, soooo, to distinguish him from the others, I guess we should call this little guy a wiry white hare. (Not to be confused with those wiry white hairs that have appeared on my head)
Head - medium oval and half a butterfly
Nose - small heart
Belly - wide oval and small oval (pink)
Hind legs - full heart
Front paws - medium oval
Ears - large oval near small oval hole
Whiskers - thin wire curled around the end of a thin paintbrush. SU used to sell this wire - I suspect you can find it at a big box craft store or maybe even a hardware store.
Note: He is also cute if you just make his head and leave off the body.
I worked on this springtime guy while the temps in North Texas were in the teens, the wind chills worse, the rolling power outages occurring frequently, the schools closed, and the roads icy. I don't know if the ground hog saw his shadow or not but I'm doing my part to THINK SPRING!
And I hope all these Super Bowl Fans who have descended upon us this week take this cruddy weather back home with them - they are used to it - I'm not.

In the beginning...
In the beginning...
No, not THAT beginning. In the beginning days of this blog, I shared the tutorial for a punched crow that had been very popular - which you can find HERE.
Today I have another crow inspired by some clip-art I saw - it was just too fun not to try in punches.
Beak - large oval, opening trimmed with scissors and colored in a bit with black marker
Body - large oval - snipped in with scissors to make choppyish (is that a word?) feathers
Eyes - circle from itty bitty punch pack and black marker
Glasses - 1/2 inch circle around itty bitty punch pack circle hole - 3 times - 2 for circles, 1 for nose piece - 2 bits of word window for ear pieces
Legs - thin strip from trimmer
Feet - narrow heart to heart next to the same hole - then I folded it over on itself to make the toes closer together (making the V shape narrower - just try it and it should make sense)
I will be using this for a thank you card I need to make - maybe something like "just had to crow about it"
Any better suggestions for a sentiment?

Gift Bearing Bear
with or without hat, he is still a gift bearing bear...
Inspired by wrapping paper
Head - owl with ears and feet cut off
Body - 1.75 inch circle
Arms - medium oval
Legs - small oval
Feet - medium oval flattened on bottom
You can figure out the rest cause I'm bored typing this

I don't know why...
This is another one of those punch art things where I don't really know why the Inspiration Fairy led me down this path.
Remember the polar bear idea I got from Mary's gift tag? Well, she had another tag with a cute reindeer face and the antlers reminded me of hearts, so I had to copy that. THEN "we" decided to add a body and I couldn't decide on the legs and before I knew it... I had a skating reindeer.
And if you should need something a little wilder you can rearrange the legs like this:
And this reminds me of a family story.
Oldest was 7. Youngest was 2. Youngest decided to do an "impression" of her sister skating. Dead serious and with NO malice in her heart, she stood on one leg throwing her arms and legs in a crazy windmill fashion. Honestly, it was a perfect imitation of her sister skating down our front sidewalk.
Oldest didn't think this was funny (Hubby and I were rolling on the floor) so she decided to to an impression of her sister. But what do 2 year-olds do that would embarrass them? Well, lets just leave it with the info that youngest wasn't potty trained and we ALWAYS knew when she did number two. And oldest did a perfect imitation of that. (More rolling on the floor)
Children are entertaining. I love them.
Head - owl punch with feet and ears cut off
Antlers - small heart put on post it and repunched with a smallish circle
Ears - small heart cut in half
Nose - 3/4 circle put on post it and repunched with same
Body - 1 3/8 inch circle
Legs - word window cut in half lengthwise
Tail - wide heart to heart cut in half
Skates - small heart to heart rounded on one hump with some small circle
Wheels - small circle from owl punch, tiny circle from owl punch for center
Scarf - circle near circle hole and long scraps

Time to Chill
Honestly, my friend Pam does NOT have a thing for polar bears and I KNOW that. So why is this the second polar bear birthday card in a row? She is the victim of timing - I'm thinking holiday characters but I don't want to do anything too "christmasy" for her birthday card so it winds up being polar bears... Last year she got the Coke Bear and this year she gets Chill Bear.
When I gave her the card, she said we could make the polar bears a birthday tradition.
Inspiration came from a tiny gift tag another friend, Mary, had on a package she was about to mail. Spied it and quickly pulled out my camera and snapped a photo just so I could copy it.
Head - wide oval
Body - wide oval turned the other way - seam of the two ovals hidden by scarf
Arms - wide heart to heart
Legs - small oval
Feet - medium oval (is that what they are calling it? - the new one)
Soles of feet - 3/4 inch circle put on a post it note so I could repunch and get kinda an oval
Scarf - wide oval punched next to wide oval hole (3 times to get pieces of scarf)
Nose - like soles of feet - add white gel pen highlight
Ears - word window ends
Draw on eyes and ear markings.
