Still Doing Laps?

Another stamp inspired punch art project - HERE is the stamp set that I saw - from Art Impressions - "Memory Laps".  I took it down to one girl (no lap) in a chair instead of two on a sofa...

Could be used for a pregnancy congrats card and certainly on a scrapbook page.

Prego Woman:
Head - 1.25 circle
Hair - 1.75 circle near a 1.25 circle hole - sponge edges
Bangs - Part of the 1.25 circle that you punched to create the hair hole - sponge to distinguish from base hair and cut a notch.
Eyes - standard hole punch in white and black - add highlight with white gel pen
Nose - standard hole punch - sponge top with pink ink
Shirt - wide oval for belly - full heart upside down for chest - tips of word window for sleeves - all sponged
Arms - narrow heart to heart next to hole of the same
Legs - narrow scraps
Ankles and feet - Full heart next to hole of same - color in black shoes with sharpie

Chair:
2.5 inch circle for chair back -outline in black
1 inch x 3 inch strip for chair seat - outline in black and draw dividing line
medium oval for chair arms - outline in black and draw center oval
black scrap chair legs

I know a mother of twins about to hatch - I think I'll finish this up for her - probably been awhile since she has "done" a lap - and very soon her lap will be FULL!

Baby on a Blanket

Not a bald baby this time, some babies have lots of hair (niether of mine did)

I think I mentioned the pile of magazines I HAD to look through before I recycled.  Well, on the back of a 2004 magazine there was a Stampin' Up! ad with a baby stamp similar to this pose - awwww so cute!

But in case you need a change of outfit see this:

Face - 1 inch circle trimmed on one side
Hair - 1 3/8 inch circle snipped in with scixxors
Body - large oval - repunched with circle (blue shirt) 1 inch circle (blue bottoms) large oval (green)
Arms - wide heart to heart - repunched with same to thin
Sleeve - (blue) 1/2 inch circle
Legs - wide heart to heart - repunched on one end with 1/2 inch circle to shorten
Hands - usual with slot punch thumb
Feet - small heart to heart - trimmed
Nose - slot punch

Rear View but not what you are expecting...

Haven't had any real punch art in a few days, so I thought I'd pop in an easy one for you

and here is the rear view so you can see that he really is easy - you don't even have to cut your punch to get the 2 ears and the 2 knees!  The feet are the only thing you will have to think about.
Head - 1 3/8 inch circle - draw on face
Diaper - 1 1/4 inch circle
Shirt - wide oval, trimmed at bottom
Sleeves - small oval (cut to get 2)
Arms - wide Heart to Heart
Knees - large oval
Ears - word window
Hands - modern label repunched at ends with 1/2 inch circle
Feet - scalloped oval repunched with small oval

First Tooth

While away on our scrapping weekend, Jenifer asked if any of us had brought baby stamps since she needed a card for an upcoming baby shower.  None of us had any but, of course, I volunteered to make some punch art for her.  And I'm so glad she needed this.

I have shown you several baby ideas before

New Years Baby
Crawling Baby
Special Delivery Baby

but One Tooth Baby is now my favorite...(of the baby characters)

I made the baby - Eileen (my sideline) made the card - and Jenifer kept on scrapping while we did all the work. Small price to pay for getting to go off to her friend's cabin for the weekend, don't you think?

Here's the important info:

Body – owl – feet off – trimmed from fattest part up to neck
Feet – small heart
Collar - small Heart to Heart (trimmed diagonally)
Neck – word window thinned lengthwise
Head – large oval
Eyes – small heart – black dots (marker or tiny circles from owl punch)
Nose – circle itty bitty punch pack
Ears – Small heart
Tooth – scrap
Mouth – marker
Arms - modern label on the edge of paper so you just get 1 bump
Hands – circle itty bitty punch pack around tips of modern label

The "fabric" of his pj's is from the Subtles Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.  The letters are from the "rough type" alphabet.  And it has my FAVE embossing folder - square lattice.  You MUST get your hands on this embossing folder - I LOVE IT!!!!

Easy Baby Punch Art

Yesterday's baby was pretty easy punching but today I'll show you the easiest baby punch art ever.

I suspect most of you have these punches
Small Oval
Word Window
Corner Rounder

So when you need a baby item and you have no baby stamps you can make this....

The vellum rectangle is 1.5 inches wide and however long/tall you want your bottle (approx 2 inches).  I scored a couple of lines to add interest and rounded the corners.  The nipple is the small oval and tip of a word window - the bottle rim is the word window - so so easy!

Of course you can do the bottle in white or a color and stamp on that if you like.

This is a part of a gift scrapbook page I'm working on - unfinished now so this is all you get to see - but I wanted to post the idea while I was on a baby theme.

ANOTHER PUNCH BOTTLE - use the new medium jewelry tag, color it with the bump as the nipple - add a colored rim - instant tiny baby bottle!  Fun huh?

I have no clue what I'll be posting tomorrow - Cross your fingers that the Inspiration Fairy gets her act together and shows up today with ideas for some of the requests y'all have sent me.

I did see a scrapbook challenge I could do....

Thinking Baby Boy

I think this is an original but it looks awfully familiar to me - maybe because it looks like the New Year Baby?  Well, if it looks like something you have done that has been living in my subconscious, please let me know and I'll be happy to give you credit.

Pretty easy punch art. I remembered to take a "parts picture" before I assembled. (Excuse the colors - I have no clue what happened in this photo)

The 2 large circles are 1.75 inch - the white one repunched to get the waist line
1 inch circle
heart to heart
shortened word window
5 standard hole punches
curl is 1/2 inch circle offset around standard hole punch HOLE
pacifier base is heart to heart punched offset above standard hole punch HOLE
pacifier ring is standard hole punch around smallest Crop-a-dile HOLE

Assembly advice:  Do not put the pacifier too close to the nose - he starts to look like a baby Hitler and that might not be the look you are going for.  Poor baby already has the Steve Urkel thing going - with that diaper up so high on his waist.

Not exactly a traditional colored baby card but remember "Everything goes with Chocolate Chip!"  Clear "tag" is Just Perfect Alphabet stamped on shrink plastic and punched with wide oval punch.  Beads are blue glass mix on good old standard staples.  The blue "thread" in the corduroy button is a thin strip of paper.

Thinking Baby Girl

Yesterday I showed you the prequel to a baby - and today I am showing a different path to parenthood...

I don't have a tutorial but a took a photo "in process" and while I changed some stuff  before I was done- it should help you out,

I switched to barely banana on the modern label beak
and the hat went to regal rose and a 3/4 inch circle (not the 1 inch shown in the photo)

I think by looking at close ups you can figure it all out

Thinking Babies

I'm thinking babies.

OMG NO! - not ME and babies!

Not even me and grand-babies!

Just thinking babies in general.  I went to a baby shower Saturday and the little gifts were so cute.  Plus I am working on some first birthday invites for a friend's granddaughter so I have little ones on the brain.

Of course before you get babies you have to do the preggers part. (We won't discuss what you have to do before the preggers part - this blog attempts to remain PG-13)

I saw a DARLING card by Stephanie Sullivan (using an electronic cutting system) that inspired me to pull out the punches again.  It was on a demo only site so I can't link you but I'm trying to learn if she has it posted anywhere else.  Edit:  Sara (thank you) found Stephanie's card on Facebook and even non-facebookers can see it HERE.  In the mean time, Here is my card...

Cute huh?

Kinda has that abstract - partial punch look. (Anybody working on the challenge?)

I'm pretty confident that you all are LOVING this little mama-to-be so let me tell you how to make her.

Hat - part of large oval, part of 1 inch circle
Head - 3/4 inch circle
Hair - part of 3/4 inch circle
Neck and ankles - smallest arrow in My Way Arrows
Arm - ring from large oval punch around small oval hole
Hand - standard hole punch (trimmed)
Legs - modern label punch - trimmed in on both sides
Shoes - 5 petal flower - trimmed like I do on so many shoes
Shirt - part of small oval punch - part of a circle (just a bit larger than 2 inches) trimmed
Bag - round tab punch and ring from large oval around small oval hole

Pattern paper is from the Sweet Pea DSP stack in the new mini catty.  Thanks Stephanie for the inspiration!

Blanket Baby

Inspired by a card I saw on Stef Hughes' blog here and she said the image is by Susan Spiller.  Anyway, it was just precious, so I had to try something similar from punches.

My girls were not thumb suckers but they were both "blankie" girls.  And that is where this little cutie will wind up - on a scrapbook page about their blankets.

Texture wheel on free hand blanket
PJ's are wide oval, heart to heart , and small oval
head - 1.25 circle
hair 1 3/8 circle trimmed, heart to heart
bows - heart to heart, standard hole punch
nose - standard hole punch
eyes - small heart, standard hole punch
hands - 1/2 circle - trimmed for thumb sucking hand, slot punch added for thumb of blanket hand

Please note that I used THREE soft subtle shades on this project and one of them is a PURPLE.  This is a strange and rare occurrence - not likely to be repeated.  Yes, I have friends who love purple (Hey Theresa!) but it certainly is not a favorite of mine. That is why this little tot has 'close to cocoa' hair - if I had used barely banana it would have been FOUR pastel colors (shudder)

If you need a boy - you could easily change the hair and 'fabric' colors.

Welcome 2010!

Happy New Year!

I hope 2010 is a wonderful joyous year for you.

May you you find everything you need and a few of the things you want.

May the sun shine bright for you, unless you really like snow and then I hope flakes fill your life.

I realize that unless you are scrapbooking a New Year event this comes a little late for you to use.  However, you might save the idea for next year or you might need to make a baby without the hat and banner so here is a tutorial.  (See me trying to start the year as a helpful blogger?)

You need these punches:

Blush blossom:
two 1.25 circle punches
two medium hearts from Heart to Heart
one large heart from Heart to Heart
two small hearts from Heart to Heart
one standard hole punch

White:
one Small Heart (new, available Jan 5)
scrap with large oval punched on the edge

Black:
two standard hole punch

Chocolate Chip (or other hair color):
scrap with standard hole punched from the corner

Insert the two medium (wide) hearts into a 1/2 inch circle punch - this is making the legs/feet

Punch the 1/2 inch circle punch around the hole in the chocolate chip paper to get a curl - turn you punch over and look at what you are punching

Punch a 1 3/8 circle punch over the oval hole in the white scrap to get a moon shape

Cut the large narrow heart in half as show below...

Take the white moon shaped diaper and slip it into a circle punch just a tiny bit to punch two leg openings

The punch pieces shown below are what you will need for assembly...

Here is a RARE photo - I am letting you see the back of one of my creations - so you can see the assembly - very easy but looks messy since I ran out of mini glue dots and used another type from my stash.  Can't wait until my order gets here with a HUGE supply of mini glue dots!

Almost done

Add pen/marker mouth and navel

If  you need the hat directions:

start with a scrap of black shaped like this, a small oval hole in blue paper and a large black oval.

Slip the wide end of your black scrap into an oval punch (insert from the center of the punch - just putting one edge in)  to round the top of your hat,
Punch an oval offset from your hole to get a blue curved strip

Below you see the hat forming

snip off the excess hat band

Add some highlights if you want and you have a new years baby

If you want the banner I showed at the top of this entry - it is cut freehand - sorry, SU only gives me a certain number of punches to work with.

I'm trying for Helpful Teacher not Miracle Worker....

I think he is pretty cute and I hope you can find a way to use him.
